What are incoterms?

An incoterm is an agreement you make with your supplier. This agreement determines who has responsibility over the goods you have ordered and when. When shipping through Boloo Forwarding, you should agree on EXW or FCA incoterms, even for sea freight. You do not need to agree on FOB with your supplier.

With FOB, your supplier (or carrier) takes care of the export documents and loading your shipment into a container at the port, for which you pay. With Boloo Forwarding, you agree on FCA/EXW, and we take care of the export documents and the placement of your goods in one of our containers. πŸ’°

EXW - Ex Works

With EXW, your supplier has the least responsibilities. Your supplier only needs to produce the goods and is not involved in the shipment process. If you agree on EXW, it is assumed that the goods will be picked up from your supplier, and there are pick-up costs associated with this. The pick-up costs depend on the location and size of your shipment. To calculate the pick-up costs, the following information is required:

  • Specific address of your supplier

  • Number of boxes

  • CBM (cubic meter)

  • Gross Weight (the weight of the entire shipment)

You can send this information to the team through the chat, and they will promptly provide you with the pick-up costs! βœ…

FCA - Free Carrier

With the FCA incoterm, your supplier ships the shipment to our warehouse. There is now slightly more responsibility on the supplier's part. This is the easiest incoterm since your supplier can send the shipment directly to our warehouse right after production! πŸ˜„

FOB - Free On Board

The FOB incoterm can still be used with us if you want to ship your own full container. As mentioned earlier, with FOB, your supplier arranges for the goods to be transported to the agreed port in China. The supplier (seller) is also responsible for loading the goods onto the ship and into a container. Of course, you will pay the supplier for these services. For a full container, you can also agree to use the EXW or FCA incoterm, and we will handle everything for you, including payment.
